Box Office Alert: JPNA 2 Is On A Roll - No Sign of Slowing Down!

One of the most highly anticipated movie this year has to be Jaawani Phir Nahi Aani 2 aka JPNA 2 which saw the return of Ahmed Ali Butt, Humayun Saeed and Vasay Chaudhry in their respective roles of the prequel. Albeit that Hamza Ali Abbasi bowed out, the audiences were enthralled with the addition of Fahad Mustafa who, frankly speaking, did a superb job.

Released alongside Load Wedding and Parwaaz Hai Junoon, JPNA 2 shows no sign of slowing down as it continues to make waves on the box office both locally and in international markets!

Directed by Nadeem Baig and written by Vasay Chaudhry, we personally feel that the first part was outstanding compared to the latest but then again at the end of the day it is the audiences who decide which movie is a hit and which is a flop.

The audiences have clearly chosen JPNA 2 and it was Humayun Saeed who took to his social media to share the good news of the film continuing to make big money even after 12 days of its release. The movie so far has made a total of Rs42.60 crores - with local earnings of Rs29.63 crores and overeseas number standing high at Rs12.97 crores to make it an outstanding number for a Pakistani release.

Besides the leading men, JPNA 2 also saw the return of Sarwat Gillani and Uzma Khan along with the addition of Kubra Khan and Mawra Hocane where the duo played the love interests of Humayun and Fahad quite nicely.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2: A sequel far better than the original

KARACHI: There’s nothing better than getting to watch a good film when its trailer suggested otherwise. When the trailer for Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 dropped, I thought it looked too confusing – as if the film-makers were trying to do too much. Even the jokes in the trailer were distasteful and unfunny.

o, it obviously came as a pleasant surprise when the actual film delivered on most fronts. Directed by Nadeem Baig, the nearly three-hour comedy takes place three years after the original Jawani ended. Upon his brother-in-law Rahat’s (Fahad Mustafa) insistence, Pervez (Ahmed Ali Butt) and Sheikh (Vasay Chaudhary) travel to Turkey with their wives Lubna (Uzma Khan) and Gul (Sarwat Gillani). There, the tragi-comical circumstances reunite them with their long-lost friend Sherry (Humayun Saeed) who is hell bent on suicide. The film takes us through their journey as conflicts involving money, love and Indo-Pak politics arise.

The greatest strength of JPNA 2 is its fast pace. It moves like a bullet train from point A to B, never letting the audience take a breather. A few scenes are unnecessary, even fewer drag beyond the limit.

Pakistani film-makers rely too much on cross-dressing, fat shaming and jokes about transgenders. This is a problem that needs to be addressed. JPNA 2 doesn’t break that norm. There is a fine line between being funny and crossing the line. And as hard it is to pinpoint the ‘line’, we have seen our film-makers tip over before in Mehrunnisa V Lub U and more recently, in Jackpot. Vasay does cross the line at times but quickly manages to pick himself up and continue.

However, the writer’s brand of humour has evolved. He has developed a better grasp of story-telling and how to keep a scene entertaining even if it runs too long. One particular element I’d like to see him utilise better is the transition from drama to humour and back, within the scenes. As of now, he jumps between the two elements. Even then, JPNA 2 works so much better than most other rom-coms. And for that, the credit goes not only to the writer but also the director and actors. In a typical rom-com, the characters barely require actors to show off their potential and in an attempt to impress, they often over-project their intended emotions. But Nadeem doesn’t exaggerate, maintaining the actors’ authenticity.

Ahmed was a treat to watch. I can’t decide if his brand of comedy has grown on me or he has done away with being annoying and matured. Nonetheless, the actor proves to be as essential a part of the film as Humayun and Fahad, if not more. I was especially impressed with Kubra Khan (who plays Humayun’s love interest) and how natural she appears on-screen. Humayun may at times come off as bland but his lady love balances the scene with genuineness in her expressions and movement.

Fahad turns out to be a great addition to the franchise. He doesn’t exploit his role to steal everyone’s thunder but actually adds to the story. However, some of the problems in JPNA 2, specifically the length, are due to his character. Vasay spends more time than needed in order to do justice to the actor (not the character). Although it gives us a few entertaining sequences, they don’t matter in the long run.

One can argue that the Indo-Pak angle was pointless too but it surely kept the film engaging. The beauty lies in its constant twists and turns. Under Nadeem’s direction, all the pieces of the puzzle came together seamlessly. Overall, JPNA 2 far exceeds expectations. It doesn’t happen often that a sequel is better the original. JPNA 2 has achieved that. Verdict: Let the not-so-Jawan heroes teach you the meaning of Jawani in this hilarious sequel.

Supermodel Omer Shahzad joins the cast of 'Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2'

The sequel to Pakistan’s highest-grossing film to date Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 (JPNA 2) has a casting coupe of sorts. Humayun Saeed, Ahmad Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry, Uzma Khan and Sarwat Gilani will be reappearing in their respective roles – while it was earlier announced that Fahad Mustafa, Mawra Hocane and Kubra Khan have joined the star-studded cast.

The latest addition to JPNA 2’s cast is model-turned-actor Omer Shahzad, who impressed us with his all-new beefed-up avatar on the runways this year. Having made a forgettable cinematic debut with Jawad Bashir’s Teri Meri Love Story, Omer now hopes to prove his mettle as an actor. However, his television career has only blossomed over the years since his foray with Adhoori Aurat in 2013 to the ongoing hit Alif Allah Aur Insaan.

Omer, who’s joined the team in Istanbul, Turkey, where the film is being shot since early November, spoke exclusively to The Express Tribune directly from the sets. “When Nadeem came to me with this part, he told me a little about it – but what really made me say yes was when he told me that I was perfect for this particular character,” he began, revealing how he was approached and what made him take it up.

Though, he chose to remain tight-lipped about his character and its facets, he did disclose that his character holds great significance in the progress of the plot. And even though Omer is evidently not the centre of attention in the film, he feels working with an adept troupe will only assist him in polishing his acting skills.

“The best part is that I get to learn so much,” he professes as one asks him of the substance he has to offer in the film, “Of course, I do want to (work on a solo lead-film), but all four protagonists in this film are senior actors, so it’s going to be a very different experience altogether. The cast literally brings together my favourite actors together and that would definitely help me grow as an actor.”

Speaking of what the audience may expect from the film, Omer was all praises for the feature. “I think this part (of JPNA) is coming up with something very exciting and stirring, I must say it’s been a wonderful experience so far working with the entire crew, here in Turkey. It’s huge, it’s massive and I am truly honoured to be a part of such an amazing team,” he concluded.

In an earlier interview with a leading daily, Fahad Mustafa had revealed that the film follows his journey with his leading lady, just how Humayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat were brought together by the rest of the gang in the original. What one hopes to find out soon is how the new entries, Kubra Khan and Mawra Hocane come into play and whether Omer has more to offer than eye-candy? We’ll have to wait and find out. JPNA 2 releases worldwide on Eidul Azha 2018.

Final release date of 'Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2' revealed

Behold! The next installment of the audience-favourite Jawani Phir Nahi Ani has just announced its release date. The film comes out on Eidul Azha next year and we cannot help but swoon over how dapper all the men look.

Cast members of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 (JPNA2), which include Ahmed Ali Butt and Humayun Saeed, have begun filming in Istanbul. Fahad Mustafa will be seen replacing Hamza Ali Abbasi in the sequel. Other cast members include Vasay Chaudhry, Uzma Khan, Sarwat Gilani and further additions comprise Mawra Hocane and Kubra Khan.

Parts of the movie will be shot in Turkey while some portions will later also be filmed in Dubai.

There were earlier reports that Rishi Kapoor was offered a role in the movie which he politely turned down. Syra Shehroz was also offered a part in JPNA2 – however, she also refused saying that her role wasn’t “substantial” enough.

The first chapter of the movie was adored by Pakistani audiences worldwide while some movie-goers also criticised it for its vulgarity. This was reportedly one of the reasons Hamza Ali Abbasi backed out from the sequel.

While the first look of the men is out, we’re now anxious to see the beautiful ladies.

The first chapter of the movie was adored by Pakistani audiences worldwide while some movie-goers also criticised it for its vulgarity – as did Hamza Ali Abbasi who stated that the movie would’ve done well without an item number too so there wasn’t a need to include it.

The movie is set to release sometime next year and we’re anxious to see what this star-studded cast has in store for us this time around.

I rejected 'Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2' because my role was not substantial: Syra Shehroz

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 (JPNA2) is expected to be the Pakistani blockbuster film of 2018, following the steps of its prequel. The film has been in the news because of its star-studded cast. Humayun Saeed, Vasay Chaudhry and Ahmed Ali Butt will continue on with their roles in the upcoming sequel while Fahad Mustafa will replace Hamza Ali Abbasi.

Earlier this month, the news of Syra Shehroz pairing up with the Actor In Law sensation Fahad Mustafa made headlines, but according to the latest buzz, Mawra Hocane has now signed up to essay a role in the much-awaited sequel – and there’s no sign of Syra.

This obviously created some curiosity and The Express Tribune exclusively spoke to Syra to get to the bottom of the matter.

The Mere Naseeb starlet also stated, “Nadeem Baig is one of the finest directors we have in the Pakistani film industry, but the role I was offered didn’t amount to what I had in mind, so I politely declined and told Nadeem bhai that I won’t be doing this role in JPNA2″

But Syra was quick to add, “Nadeem bhai and I will definitely be working together in the near future.

” Syra made her film debut this year with Chalay Thay Saath. Although the film did not fare well at the box office, her strong performance and superior acting prowess were critically acclaimed.

On the other hand, Syra’s film Project Ghazi has been put on hold due to technical faults.

JPNA2 will mark the Pakistani film debut of Mawra Hocane. She was previously in the news for a film alongside Umair Jaswal, but it got delayed or shelved due to unknow reasons.

The Sammi star will be pairing up with Fahad Mustafa for the first time in this upcoming flick. She made her film debut in Bollywood in 2016 with the movie Sanam Teri Kasam alongside Harshvardhan Rane, who also marked his debut with the film. Mawra was praised for her heartwarming performance in the emotional romance drama.

Earlier this month, Humayun Saeed and director Nadeem Baig visited Turkey for the recce of their upcoming film. It has now been decided that JPNA2 will be shot in Turkey for the most part and bits of it will be shot in Dubai.

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani released in Eidul Azha 2015. The movie featured an ensemble cast which comprised Humayun Saeed, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmed Ali Butt, Javed Sheikh, Ismail Tara, Ayesha Khan and Bushra Ansari.

Mawra Hocane joins cast of 'Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2'

KARACHI : Mawra Hocane is on a roll!

The Sammi starlet is all set to join the cast of the sequel of Humayun Saeed starrer Jawani Phir Nahi Aani.

The movie also stars Fahad Mustafa in a titular role. Previously, talking to Fifi Haroon, Saeed revealed that the shooting of the movie will start from next month in Turkey. The cast will also be shooting a portion of the movie in Dubai.

The news come after Mawra signed a pre-partition drama Aangan. Ahsan Khan has also reportedly been roped in for the same show.

A little birdie also tells us that this upcoming venture will be made on a massive scale, deeming it one of the most expensive TV productions to date. Expect a larger-than-life set that will make the project all the more believable.

Previously, it was reported that Rishi Kapoor was also offered a role in the movie. The actor later turned down an offer to star in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani sequel. Rishi revealed the main reason behind his refusal.

The Kapoor & Sons actor said he wouldn’t work in Pakistani films because his “country won’t like him to do it.”

“Recently, I was approached for a Pakistani film; it was the sequel to one of their biggest hits. I heard the story and found it interesting. Now, of course, it is not possible to act in it. The situation was ironic,” Rishi was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
