Fahad Mustafa’s deep neck has internet in deeper thoughts

For a couple of days now, a picture of Pakistani star Fahad Mustafa has been making rounds on Twitter.

In the picture, the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 actor can be seen in a show, while conversing with the host. But that’s now what has gotten everyone’s attention. Fahad’s choice of attire in the particular picture has become the talk of the town.

The Load Wedding star wore a deep neck black sweatshirt, in which a part of his chest is exposed. Multiple Twitter users took to the micro-blogging website to share (or make fun of) the actor, tweeting sarcastic and hilarious comments.

We gather some of them:

1) Is this Islamic Republic of Pakistan

2) ahh i said the same thing to my cousins when i saw him and was planning to tweet the same as well.

3) Guys who wear long neck shirts are so so weird.

4) No one: Ppl in Fahad Mustafa ib:

Watch: Faisal Qureshi makes a 'Call to Action' against Covid-19

A coronavirus awareness short film has popped up on everyone’s social media, thanks to Faisal Qureshi.

Amid lockdown and prior to the indefinite release of his up and coming political satire, Money Back Gaurantee – the television personality has released a short film titled, Call to Action.

Dedicated to the cause of preventing Covid-19 spread, the 18 celebrities featured in the two and half minute long culmination of clips, make actual calls to action, informing the viewers about the measures they can take against the disease.

The film takes off with Hamza Ali Abbasi saying he has cancelled all of his plans so he can stay at home with wife, Naimal Khawar. Moving on to Reema who explains how ones own house is the safest place for them to stay in this current time. The string of calls then leads to Humayun Saeed, who goes on to add that even he won’t be going anywhere, not even to London (Term).

Then comes everyone’s favourite, Shehzad Roy, who is seen washing his hands carefully while talking about how important it is to do so. The camera then moves to Maya Ali, who appears with her baking tools again while talking about how she won’t be shaking hands with anyone – regardless of how bad they feel about it. Sheheryar Munawar gives a similar message pertaining to social distancing.

Bilal Maqsood then makes a funny entrance, talking about how a person can forward such a disease without knowing that he’s the carrier. Enter Ayesha Omar, who goes onto target the phenomenon of forwarding Covid-19 related messages without verification.

Zara Noor Abbas also pops up, stresses on the need to remain isolated. Whereas Ali Rehman Khan also makes a call, reiterating how he isn’t allowing anyone to touch him these days.

This is followed by the power couple, Shaniera and Wasim Akram who talk about the importance of covering their faces in this difficult time. Their conversation leads to Faisal Kapadia, stressing upon the need to also remain hydrated. Then comes Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain, advising everyone to keep a distance between themselves while talking to each other.

Mikaal Zulfiqar also appears washing dishes, as he goes on to say he has given his house help a holiday, following which his Money Back Gaurantee co-star relays the importance of quarantining if Covid-19 symptoms appear.

The series of messages end with a final one coming from the renowned veteran figure, Anwar Maqsood, who just asks some Mehfooz bhai to take care of himself and keep his surrounding clean.

Ali Abbas admits he has a 'huge' crush on Mahira Khan

There’s an addition to the ever-growing list of Mahira Khan’s admirers and it’s none other than actor Ali Abbas.

Mehwish Hayat just asked people their 'darkest desire' and the answers are outright bizarre

The current lockdown has Pakistani celebrities becoming more and more creative with social media to entertain their fans. While alot of them are holding QnA sessions where they answer fan questions, Mehwish Hayat has turned the tables.

Instead of letting fans in on her secrets, she asked them about their’s. “Now tell me, what’s your deepest darkest desire ?” she tweeted.

The response was well, not your usual dinner time conersation. Fellow actor Ushna Sha broke the eyes by using the most misplaced Game of Thrones reference.

Coming back to Hayat’s fans. As expected, some of the answers were really thirsty. Thirsty for the Punjab Nahi Jaungee star that is. star that is.ual dinner time conersation. Fellow actor Ushna Sha broke the eyes by using the most misplaced Game of Thrones reference.

1) Washing your hands for 20 secs

2) To be so popular that it becomes your desire to meet me.

3) want you to marry me.

Some had this weird fixation with seeing Hayat with Humayun Saeed on the big screen, as siblings. Weird priorities people have these days.

4) ap or Humayun Saeed ko behan bhai ka role krte dekhna

Meera stuck in New York, asks PM Imran Khan for assistance

A brand new video of Meera has been circulating on the internet since Monday which the Baaji star has recorded in a hotel room in New York. Herein, she addresses Prime Minister Imran Khan and asks him to help her return home to Pakistan.

“Mr Prime Minister, it’s 2 am here in New York and I am trapped in this hotel room addressing you right now. I arrived here with Humayun Saeed and other actors for the shooting of a film, but they’ve all left and I’m stuck still here,” claims Meera.

Saeed had returned from the US along with Adnan Siddiqui before the two went into quarantine together. The latter uploaded a video announcing their return on March 19, while letting their fans know about the precautionary measures they took upon their arrival in Pakistan.

However, Meera’s video comes precisely a month after the celebrities’ return and the actor is saying that she has no savings left to sustain herself in New York anymore. She adds, “New York is turning into a graveyard with several people dying each day. Death is inevitable but I don’t want to die in a foreign country.” The Baaji star then pleads to the Prime Minister to help her return to Pakistan. “Mr Prime Minister, you have always supported the artistes of our country and nations around the world are bringing their citizens back home. I am begging you, please make arrangements for me to come back. I want to die in my own country.” This is the second time an artiste has complained about being stuck abroad due to the closing of our airspace. Meera’s video comes six days after the safe return of the cast and crew of Ishrat Made In China from Thailand.

The entire team of 21 people along with the director, Muhib Mirza, had also shared similar videos during their time abroad. Considering their shoot had ended on March 25, sustaining so many people in a hotel for so long had become problematic.

Nevertheless, here’s hoping Meera Jee’s return is also made possible and the celebrity makes her way back home. Have something to add to the story? Share it in the comments below.

Mahira Khan is in love, can you guess the guy?

Mahira Khan, Pakistan’s arguably biggest superstar, has confessed that she is in love!

The Verna actor was the latest guest in Samina Peerzada’s web show, Rewind with Samina Peerzada, and revealed that she is a committed woman.

When asked by the veteran actor whether Mahira was in love with someone special, the Raees star smiled sheepishly and nodded her head. “

Yeah, I think I am in love,” Mahira smiled. When Samina went on to congratulate her, the Sadqay Tumhare actor added, “I don’t know, I am so shy about it.”

Samina then inquired if she would know the person Mahira has fallen for, to which the former VJ asserted, “You might but he’s not from the industry.”

Samina then asked Mahira if she would want to name the person, she shared that she wouldn’t. “This is one thing I would want to protect with my life. I want to protect my child,” the Bol actor said, adding, “At first, I wanted to show everyone what an adorable baby Azlan is, but now I’ve become more cautious. If you notice, you really wouldn’t see Azlan’s face full front, it’d either be a side pose or a back pose.

” Samina ensured her that she had all the right in the world to do that.

“I know we shouldn’t be so superstitious and I wasn’t someone who you would call a vehmi, but now I’m just like I don’t want any Nazar (evil eye),” Mahira shared. Have something to add to the story? Share it in the comments below.

Mehwish Hayat calls out India for using COVID-19 to fuel Islamophobia

Mehwish Hayat is known for speaking her mind whenever she comes across an injustice, be it anywhere in the world. In a recent tweet the Punjab Nahi Jaungi star called out the latest wave of xenophobia in India against Muslims, stemming from the coronavirus pandemic.

The actor shared an article about coronavirus conspiracy theories arising in India that target Muslims. Alongside the article, she talked about how the world is uniting in its fight against the pandemic, while in India it is being used to fuel bigotry.

“Just came across this article. When the world is uniting to fight against a common enemy, our neighbours are using this pandemic as a way of spewing further hatred and dividing ppl. Why do they discriminate when the virus doesn’t? This is Shameful!” Mehwish said in the tweet.

Her fans expressed their support for her

Absolutely right — Shahbaz Gohar (@ShahbazGohar14) April 14, 2020 Mehwish has been really vocal about people keeping their humanity intact amid the coronavirus crisis.

The Load Wedding star recently uploaded a video on social media urging people to donate to the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s COVID19 relief fund. The actor said that the country is facing a big challenge and “how we behave right now, will decide our fate for generations to come.” She started off by emphasising that even the most efficient healthcare systems of the world have submitted in front of the prevailing pandemic.

“What chances do we have then? In a place like Karachi where 20 million people reside, the intensive care wards have only 600 beds. Pakistan’s population is 220 million and the number of ventilators across the country? 1700. Last week there were only 15000 masks for doctors and nurses,” she added.

Lights, camera, lockdown: The daily wagers of Pakistan's showbiz

From freelance assistant directors, editors, gaffers to daily wage workers including the light and camera crew, spot boys and people behind the props and sets, everyone has one thing to say: “There’s no work and no hope of even getting paid for the work we started doing before the lockdown began.” Falling like dominos on top of one another, production for many films halted in front of our very eyes. Even producers that managed to wrap up their shoots before the pandemic were not successful in releasing their films since most of them were waiting for Eidul Fitr. Uncertainty and freelancers Speaking to The Express Tribune, Ayaz Akbar, a freelance assistant director, editor and colour-grade artist said, “I was working on a project and it was in its pre-production phase but after the lockdown, producers backed off. They said they didn’t need it anymore because it’s a luxury at a time when people are focused on fulfilling their basic needs like keeping themselves alive.”

Hira Mansoor, a freelance art director also said that her payments were stuck, although she mentioned that art directors get some advance payment with the full payments arriving after a month. “But because of this lockdown our payments are delayed for another 3-4 months while our labour, that earned Rs1000 in a day, has no reserves.” Ahad Ahmed Khan, a freelance assistant director who worked in Money Back Gaurantee also said that the daily wagers were the ones really suffering, but nothing can be done even if directors resumed shooting.

“There is no work and even if shoots resume, pulling them off isn’t logistically possible right now. As an AD there is a problem in gathering the crew, equipment, props and several people can’t make it because of there being no transport or allowance from the authorities.” He further added that even after the lockdown ends, producers would only hire the crème de la crème because there would be no room for bigger crews and lesser productivity. “This would lead to lesser jobs, of course, but the daily wagers would even be willing to work in lower amounts since they’ve been unemployed for so long.” Debts and daily wagers Amanullah, a light and camera person agrees. Living in a rented apartment, he is the only breadwinner of his family of nine. “I’ve been sitting at home since fifteen days now. Do you know what that means? It means no food with another month’s rent on my Shoulders.

He explained how he’d make ends meet by somehow earning Rs1,500 in a day, be it from a 12-hour shift or a 24-hour one. “But since March 21, I have earned nothing. I bought a week’s worth of grocery from my last savings and even that has finished. I’ve just received a ration bag out of sympathy from a friend, but it’s embarrassing because no matter how little, I’ve always earned my own money.” Like Amanullah, every other daily wager was more concerned about dying of hunger before corona even hit them. Muhammad Jaan, another ‘light boy’ mentioned being jobless. “There are five people in this house and I have to give Rs15,000 for this apartment we live in. We have no savings and our only hope is God.”

Jaan said he was borrowing money from people in the hopes to return them whenever shooting resumes. But sadly, he hasn’t received wages for 19 days of work on a television project he was recently doing. “My boss hasn’t paid me yet and he tells me every day that he’s going to give me the money but he doesn’t.” Spot boy Mohammad Shahbaz Ramzan reiterated Khan’s thoughts on the logistical issues surrounding his work. “The problem is that a crew is too big and usually filled with men – if more than three stags gather in a field these days the police will take them away. Not to mention our shifts are for 12-18 hours.” He further added that more than films, he works on commercials but even brands have stopped making them.

Arbab Ali Khosa, a set and props manager along with his cousin Ishrat Ali Khosa expressed similar sentiments. Whereas Nabeel Amdani, an occasional production manager and usually a line producer, said that there are days he even earns Rs10, 000 for managing, but all of that goes into his rent. “My daily wages are everything me and my family survive on. It is a good thing that my apartment’s owner is willing to wait for me to start earning again before I pay him – But what about the ones who are not?”

Adeel Yousuf, another spot boy who mentioned working in Parey Hut Love, Dobara Phir Se, says that he was working on commercials and about to get a film but the lockdown happened. “No matter how little I earned I could at least manage our rent, but now I can’t even do that. Not to mention, there are 17 people in my family including children, my brother and parents.” He ended up saying that all of them don’t care about the virus – “We don’t care about it, we can’t let our family die of hunger.”

Samina Peerzada speaks up against unnecessary bashing of celebs

While we complain about boredom in quarantine time, our celebrities are making every possible effort to keep us entertained. By keeping calm and remaining positive in this difficult time, they are only trying to help us all get through this. It's not an easy time for anyone right now. Just like all of us are stuck at home, these entertainers are too. As the nation self-isolates, some of them are trying to keep us entertained through live streaming sessions on social media.

How are we repaying them? By criticizing them and calling them names on the internet. Actress and host Samina Peerzada took to social media to address this uncalled-for bullying of the celebs. She said:

It's time to respect our entertainers. In these times, it's only our showbiz personalities who are keeping us positive. So, rethink when you call us Kanjar and Meerasis. Samina Peerzada

She's right. Musicians such as Ali Sethi, Atif Aslam, and others are doing live jamming sessions for their fans. Others are also doing their very best to keep us positive and entertained. Do they really deserve the treatment we have to offer?

What do you think?

Mahira Khan vows to donate to the PM's fund

The Prime Minister has set up COVID-19 relief fund to help those in need. The Superstar Mahira Hafeez Khan announced that she'd be contributing to the fund to do her part as a responsible citizen of the country.

As Imran Khan rightly pointed out that countrymen who are popular celebrities have a responsibility to the nation that has given them name and acclaim. It's is hence only right that they extend support to their beloved Pakistan as a repayment.

Mahira took to Twitter yesterday and said:

I pledge to donate to Imran Khan, PTI’s COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Fund. Anything in anyone’s capacity will make a difference. May we truly see relief for all. InshaAllah.

Mehwish Hayat also urged fellow Pakistanis to make generous donations in order to help the needy. She had earlier posted a video on her Twitter account asking people to donate for the doctors fighting this disease so they can be appropriately equipped to treat patients.

Let's us all fight this virus, together as a nation. Come forward and donate as much as you can!

The outbreak compels big budget films to reschedule release

The virus has taken the world by storm. With the lockdown in place, people especially the daily wagers have lost their jobs, companies have laid off employees, hospitals are running short of medical supplies, and the film industry has decided to postpone films that were scheduled for release in 2020 because shootings have halted halfway.

2020 was the year when major, big-budget films were slated for release. While some of these films had reached the post-production stage, others had only just begun shooting, and then the lockdown happened.
‘Intezar’ was scheduled to hit the floors in March 2020, but the release didn’t go as planned because cinemas are closed until further notice. One of the most awaited films, The Legend of Maula Jatt was finally cleared by all censor boards and had the green signal for release, could further be postponed until the situation normalizes.

Same is the case with other releases scheduled around Eid time, later this year. ‘Zarrar’ and ‘Money Back Guarantee’ were just about to announce dates. Now, while these films are all ready to hit the cinemas, there are a few that had been halted during production.

Nadeem Baig’s ‘London Nahi Jaunga’ is 70 percent complete, but the rest of the shooting slotted for London this month is most likely to be postponed in lieu of the lockdown.

Irfan Malik, Head of ARY Films, said in an interview:

We had planned our spell of London shooting in mid of April, but in these situations, it seems impossible as conditions in the UK are more severe than ours.

The script requires shots from London, so waiting is all they can do for now, until things get back to normal again. London Nahi Jaunga was originally scheduled for release later this year, which seems unlikely as of now.

Another action-comedy ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’ produced by Mastermind Films and JB Films has completed just three days of shooting. Producer, Hassan Zia says the shooting will resume as soon as things get normal. A release date has thus not been finalized yet. The movie is based on the famous phrase of Prime Minister Imran Khan, and it features Saba Qamar, Zahid Ahmed, and Syed Jibran in the lead roles.

Saba Qamar’s ‘Kamli’ had begun filming in December 2019, but it seems to have been suspended as of now. Yasir Nawaz’s ‘Chakkar’ has only completed six days of filming, and the shooting scheduled for April and May might be delayed further. According to Yasir, they had planned to release the film between Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha time, but this seems unlikely now.

Wajahat Rauf’s ‘Parde Me Rehnay Do’ has completed 50 percent of work, and needs another few months for completion and editing. According to Rauf, it will be ready by year-end, hopefully.

‘Fatman’ by Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Meerza will begin shooting in October if all goes well. But, ‘Quaid e Azam Zindabad’ is in its editing stages as of now. Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan finished shooting of the film earlier this year before Corona hit the world. If everything goes well, it will release on its original date, i.e. Eid ul Adha.

Another film that had to be halted halfway is a script written and produced by the heartthrob Fawad Khan. The film is titled ‘Neelofar’ and it is reuniting the popular ‘Humsafar’ couple, Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan once again.

Adnan Siddiqui’s first-ever production ‘Dum Mastam’ staring our favorite Bhola (Imran Ashraf) has also been suspended in its post-production stage until further notice.

Limited supplies, no flights: Pakistani celebs stranded in Thailand plead for help

KARACHI  : Popular television actor Muhib Mirza’s debut directorial, Ishrat Made In China’s shoot had kicked off in Thailand before COVID19 took a serious turn around the world. Half the cast returned to Pakistan after completing their 15-days of shooting while the remaining half, is stuck in Thailand with, no flights only fight.

One of the film’s leading cast members, Shamoon Abbasi told The Express Tribune that even then the cast and crew are waiting patiently for Pakistan to open its air space on April 4.

“But just two days ago PIA revealed the list of countries’ flights that will be allowed and Thailand wasn’t one of them,” Abbasi told The Express Tribune. “Not to mention, Thailand is also expected to close it’s air space soon. And if that happens before PIA resumes its flights than we are doomed.”

Other leading cast members of the upcoming film include Sanam Saeed, Sara Loren, Hassan Shehryar Yasin (HSY), Mani, Mustafa Choudhary, Ali Kazmi, and Imam Said.

According to Choudhary, the cast started arriving in groups depending on their shooting requirements. “Me, Mani, Ali Kazmi and HSY went early and returned to Karachi on March 18 after a 15-day shoot. Thankfully we didn’t have symptoms but we started quarantining. As for those who were still there, the shoot wrapped up on March, 25 but air spaces had closed by then.

Mirza, the director of Ishrat Made in China’s also uploaded a video in which he said, “Ever since we wrapped the film we have been waiting for when we’ll be allowed to go back. We are waiting for some kind of special flight and I’d like to make an appeal to the civil aviation authority, the government of Pakistan and Ministry of foreign affairs, to help us get back home. I’d further like to request the Film Producers Association to forward our message to the government.”

The cast is currently staying in a hotel in Kanchanaburi, which is a tourist destination covered with forests,  3-4 hours away from Bangkok. According to Abbasi, there are zero cases of corona there and a minimum population.

“However, what’s limited is the resources, given the production team did not expect to stay here for many days. There are 21 people here, including the crew and regardless of what the situation in Pakistan be, everyone needs to get back home.” Mirza also brought attention to the same aspect in his video. Both of them clarified that they would take all necessary steps to quarantine themselves once they arrive in Pakistan but that can only happen if they are received. Abbasi went on to add that the entire team is sticking together like a rock but the uncertainty is killing everyone inside. “We thought we’d return by April 4, but if we knew this would happen we would’ve started making noise sooner,” Abbasi said. As far as coping is concerned, Abbasi noted that he and Mirza were the ones panicking, trying to get in touch with people who could get them home. As for the two leading ladies of the film, Abbasi said, “They are strong women, Sara herself has traveled a lot and Sanam is very concerned. They are responsible enough to know they are surrounded by responsible people so they aren’t panicking.”

But as far as everyone’s mental health is concerned, Abbasi said that the team’s comic relief had left when Choudry, Mani, HSY, and Kazmi went back. “Everybody’s just been counselling each other these days, we play some music and crack a few jokes but everyone is scared deep inside. Even television is useless here because all the channels are in languages we don’t understand.”

Mani, on the other hand, said that his co-stars had a feeling that something serious was about to go down. “We packed up and left as soon as our shoots were done,” Mani told The Express Tribune. This was, in fact, my fourth film shoot this year. So Thank God we got done early because we are worried about these guys now, they have limited resources and no family there.”

Details of the film, however, have still not been revealed, but the film titled ‘Made in China,’ has seen quite a few plot twists before the release. While the remaining actors kept their lips sealed, Mani revealed that the film was a comedy and his role, quite comedic. “Money Back Guarantee onward, majority of the films being made for 2020 are comedic,” he said. But real life has clearly turned into a horror story and all anyone can hope for is this Black Mirror episode to end. Not just for the cast and crew stranded in Thailand but for everyone else around the world.

Do not lose hope or create panic, says Maya Ali

It’s not the best time to panic, points out Maya Ali. As the number of Corona victims rise in different parts of the country, people are struck by panic. Amidst the ongoing chaos, the ‘Teefa in Trouble’ actress shared a post on her Instagram, urging everyone to stay calm, and not to lose hope.

We are all going through a difficult time, but we shall come out stronger! Insha Allah

She shared a throwback picture, of herself at the Shah Faisal Mosque and captioned it: This picture was taken a while back when people were praying together in mosques and I strongly believe that this day will come back soon Insha ALLAH. People will meet and offer prayers once again together. Please don’t lose hope or create panic, “waqt agar waisa nahi raha to aisa bhi nahi rahe ga” Insha ALLAH. This is the time when we have to become One as a nation and adhere to the government orders. Wishing you all good health and safety on this day. Please stay inside your homes to save others’ lives.

Let’s all hope for the best and keep praying. Stay at home, practice respiratory hygiene, look out for others and stay strong. This too shall pass!
