'Pinky Memsaab' Releases on Netflix!

Shazia Ali Khan’s direction Pinky Memsaab follows the life-changing journey of a maid named Pinky played by the beautiful and emerging Hajra Yamin. Apart from Hajra, the film includes Kiran Malik, Adnan Jafar, Khalid Ahmed, Hajra Khan, and Shameem Hilaly but Hajra played the lead role in the film. She played her role really well and is nominated for Lux Style Award for Best Film Actress - Viewer's Choice.

The film is an international production shot in Dubai with actors from India, Pakistan, and UAE. The story of the film revolves around the lives of a gullible maid, Pinky - Hajra Yamin; a beautiful socialite, Mehr – Kiran Malik; an ambitious investment banker, Hassan – Adnan Jaffar and a happy-go-lucky chauffeur, Santosh - Sunny Hinduja who are entwined together in Dubai, in the bitter-sweet tale of self-discovery.

The film was released in December last year and it was loved by the audience but unfortunately, the film didn’t make a lot of money. It is now set to release on Netflix and would be available worldwide. Netflix is basically a streaming service that allows people to watch a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, movies, documentaries, and more on thousands of Internet-connected devices. Moreover, there are no commercials on Netflix.

Like all the professional actors, Hajra started her acting career with theatre in 2011 and made her TV debut in 2016. She then made her film debut in 2018 with Maan Jao Na which didn’t do well in the box office. She then came up with a lead role in Pinky Memsaab which was way better than Maan Jao Na.

We congratulate Hajra Yamin and the remaining team of Pinky Memsaab and we really hope that Hajra will come up with an even better film in the future.

Pinky Memsaab Gets Selected For The 21st UK Asian Film Festival

While the major part of Pakistani film industry is thriving on commercial films. right there from time to time it is important to move away from a typical masala flick and make something which is artistic and makes the audiences think for a bit . Now where Pinky Memsaab upon its release may not have enjoyed such a fantastic run it has officially been selected for the UK Asian Film Festival which we are very happy to hear about.

Taking to the social media, the team announced the news and were naturally thrilled about it. Appearing as a closing night film on 6th April 2019, the movie will also be showing in Leicester, Edinburgh and Manchester.

In an earlier conversation with BBC Urdu, director and writer Shazia Ali Khan said, "Basically the story is about two women which is a crime in Pakistan, as it is a totally female-centric film and the two form a strange bond with one another. The young girl comes from a village in Punjab and lands in Dubai to work as a maid in the house of an investment banker, both are Pakistani. Now in the older generation there was defined line between a servant and a master but the new generation is confused and that line has become grey so the problems which come with this mindset, the accepting yet not accepting element is what the film will explore."

Hajra Yamin and Kiran Malik, we would like to congratulate the entire team on such brilliant news and wish them all the very best for the UK Asian Film Festival.
